In around 30 years, Luis has published eight poetry collections with Tia Chucha Press, Curbstone Books, and C&C Press (those from C&C Press are limited edition, hand-made art books) as well as two memoirs, two children's books, a novel, a short story collection, and a nonfiction book on gang intervention and urban peace. His other books have been published by Touchstone Books/Simon & Schuster, Rayo Books/HarperCollins, Lee & Low Books, Seven Stories Press, and Curbstone Books.

A book entitled Always running : La vida Loca: Gang Days in L.A. (1991) by Luis J. Rodriguez is about drugs, gangs and life on the streets of Los Angeles. I think that this book is one of the most interesting books that I have read so far because it gives a very detailed account if what is was like to be poor, and a gang member in the streets of Los Angeles. I think this book is interesting because it shows how people can make bad choices and regret why they made them later on in life. The main character, Luis Rodriguez has written this book to try and change some one’s mind about gangs and drugs by giving his point of view. Anyway, I’m glad that there are other books being featured here and would probably secure one copy each soon.
