Dear Supporters, Friends, Community: I urge everyone to help Tia Chucha's Centro Cultural--the bookstore and cultural space in Sylmar, CA that I helped create with my wife, Trini, and others--by attending our 3rd annual "Celebrating Community & Culture / Si Se Puede, Yes We Can!" at the Ford Amphitheatre in Hollywood on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at 7 PM. This event bring badly-needed funds to the only nonprofit cultural center and bookstore in the Northeast San Fernando Valley.
Beautiful picnic grounds (wine and beer are allowed!) are available before the show. Doors open at 5PM. Show at 7PM SHARP. The Ford Amphitheatre is like a miniature Hollywood Bowl--1,200 seats under the stars in the Hollywood Hills. Truly an LA oasis!
The beautiful Ford Amphitheatre is directly across the Hollywood Bowl off the 101 Freeway. There is FREE parking at the Universal City Red Line Metro Station and FREE 7 minute shuttle to the Ford! Or, take the Metro Red Line to the Universal Station and take the FREE shuttle to the Ford. Imagine that you are on vacation somewhere exotic. Make it a memorable, fun-filled adventure, LA style.
If any of you were to cut out one soda or coffee for a month, you'd be able to afford the cost of one Tia Chucha Benefit ticket. Tia Chucha's survival in these hard times depends heavily this event. IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND AND WANT TO MAKE A TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATION PLEASE GO TO WWW.TIACHUCHA.COM OR CALL 818-528-4511. THANKS!
Tickets for this unique Angelino experience and show is only only $25! ($30 after July 26), STUDENTS AND CHILDREN PAY ONLY $5 !!! There are also group discount tickets for 8 or more people. Call 323-769-2147 [email protected]
Tickets are available at the Ford box office: 323.461.4511 www.FordTheatres.org
Our once in a lifetime fabulous lineup includes: Very Be Careful (LA’s top Colombian cumbia party band with exciting traditional cumbia dancers in costume); zocaloZüe (Exciting Afro-Caribbean-Mexican folk music w/ special veracruzana fandango guest musicians and dancers in costume); La Santa Cecilia (Mesmerizing Mexican/Latin American folk rock w/ samba and tango dancers in costume); Kayamanan Ng Lahi (Exquisite rarely performed Filipino folk music and dance influenced by Mexican culture); Luis J. Rodríguez (one of América’s greatest poets); Temachtia Quetzalcoatl (danza azteca performing opening ceremonial blessing); and nationally acclaimed comedian/actor, Herbert Siguenza (of Culture Clash) will be our hilarious host and MC!
Now that's a show. It would cost double at the Hollywood Bowl--but without the parking and traffic hassle. The Ford shows are actually more intimate and the sound and lights comparable to the Bowl or the Greek Theatre. So come out and support Tia Chucha's Centro Cultural while enjoying a memorable concert under the starts in the beautiful Hollywood Hills. Orale Pues! Let's sell out the place.
